The local Suicide Prevention Coalition is working towards the prevention of all suicides in Brown County and is calling on the community at large to become educated about the warning signs of suicide and how to help save a life.
Currently, a group of 20 local community members have been trained to provide free QPR training in the Brown County region. Through the hard work of these volunteer trainers, the Coalition has provided more than 28,000 community members with this life saving training.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer:
3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper, you will learn how to:
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide
- Offer hope
- Get help and save a life
